Slovakia is a country that became completely independent only recently, in the year 1989, when it finally separated from the Czech Republic. There has been a lot going on within the boundaries of this country over the very many years and Slovakia has indeed got a very historically rich background.

The art and culture of the country has been well developed since the Middle Ages and some of the greatest creations took place during this time. Many renowned artists and music composers of the world were born in Slovakia. Today Slovakia gets its rich culture from around Europe. It is the cultural aspects of countries like Austria, Hungary, Russia and Czech that all come together in the culture of Slovakia.

The natural beauty of this country attracts people from around the globe and tourism has developed really fast in this country. Industrial growth took place here under the rule of communism but in spite of that the people here are very much rooted to the soil and are tied with the rural traditions to a great degree.

Today Slovakia has a modern and high income market economy but the transition to this state from a centrally planned economy has not been easy at all. It was in the year 2004 that Slovakia became part of the European Union as well as of NATO. After becoming a member of the EU Slovakia also applies the same rules of the other European countries when it comes to buying property in this country.
